After more than a decade, it looks like Playstation is reviving one of Rockstar's older titles for the PS4. The Warriors, a popular multi-platform brawler, is now available on the Playstation Store for $14.99 for fans who want to revisit the game on their next generation console.

However, fans shouldn't expect to see overhauled graphics with this rerelease as it's by no means a remastering. However, Playstation is promising that The Warriors has been modernized somewhat for contemporary gamers. Their online store reads, "Experience The Warriors® for PS2™ with full 1080p up-rendering and enhanced features such as Trophies, Shareplay, Remote Play, Activity Feeds and Second Screen support for game manuals with 'PS Vita' or PS App....This title has been converted from the original PlayStation®2 version to the PS4™ system. Consequently, there may be times where the title plays differently from the PlayStation®2 version, or where some features may not function properly."

The Warriors is based on a cult classic film by Walter Hill from which the game's name is derived. Released in 1979, the film depicted the gang-ridden turf of New York. When a new player comes into town to take over the street gangs, he's quickly killed, and one of the gangs known as 'The Warriors' gets falsely accused of making the hit. All of its members must then fight to leave town as every other gang in the city goes onto hunt them down. The film's video game counterpart stands as one of the best game adaptations in history as The Warriors explained events both before and after the film's storyline. With its fast-paced gameplay and intriguing narrative, fans of Hill's work applauded the game's fresh storytelling.

Recently, Deadline reported that the Russo Brothers would be remaking The Warriors film into a one-hour drama alongside Paramount TV and Hulu. So, who knows? Perhaps Rockstar will take an extra step in the futre and remaster the game should the new project go over well.
