While Vulcans might have learned to suppress their emotions, fans of Leonard Nimoy totally embrace them when it comes to honoring the late, legendary actor. Obviously known for his work on Star Trek, Nimoy never failed to inspire others whether they be his family, colleagues, or fans. That truth seems to be universally recognized, and the upcoming documentary For The Love Of Spock aims to demonstrate just how Nimoy forever changed the world of pop culture. The film's theatrical trailer was recently posted to Youtube, and unsurprisingly, it'll make you feel all of the things.

No, seriously. Go grab some tissues.

The film is directed and written by Nimoy's son, Adam, who had approached his father about making the documentary ahead of Star Trek's golden anniversary. Though Nimoy passed away before the project was completed, Adam was able to fill-in the documentary with interviews from William Shatner, Nichelle Nichols, George Takei, Zachary Quinto, Chris Pine, Zoe Saldana, J.J. Abrams, and more.

The official trailer is filled with intimate conversations and behind-the-scene looks into Nimoy's life. The films teases, "Fifty years ago, he accepted the role of a lifetime. It forever changed his life and ours." The trailer goes onto to discuss how Star Trek turned Nimoy's personal and professional world upside down as the sci-fi series gained unprecedented success throughout the years. And it's J.J. Abrams who wisely notes that fans truly gravitated to Nimoy's Spock because, "Everyone feels a little bit like an outsider." Entire communities found themselves represented in Spock's complex character, and the character's legacy has continued to trickle down throughout generations.

And, should you make it to the trailer's end without getting a lump in your throat, prepare yourself. The trailer ends fittingly enough with a simple sound bite of Nimoy's wherein he promises viewers, "I have been, and always shall be, your friend."

For The Love Of Spock will be released on iTunes and VOD on September 9th following its previous Tribecca Film Festival debut this Spring.
