Toho’s upcoming Godzilla Resurgence is aiming to bring back the viscous beast that moviegoers originally fell in love with, and the studio is putting in a lot of CGI work to make it happen.
In the newest VFX Breakdown video, Toho shows off their scarred version of the famous creature, and all the work it took to get him implemented into his surroundings in a believable way. He’s not the only CGI work in the film, though, as the helicopters and tanks that oppose Godzilla are also all CGI.

Previous reports have also confirmed that Godzilla’s look in the breakdown and in the first official trailer is not his permanent look. How he gets that way in the first place remains to be seen, but according to BMD sources “Like some of his foes before him, Godzilla will actually change as the film progresses. I’ve been told that by his third form, he should look like a much more standard Godzilla.”
