In an effort to keep as much of it a mystery up until its premiere, FX hasn't officially announced the cast, synopsis, or subtitle for the sixth installment of American Horror Story; however, it now looks like the cat's out of the bag on the subtitle.

Several days ao, the website Rotten Tomatoes listed the sixth season as American Horror Story: The Mist on the show's official page, but it was quickly removed. And now, a reddit user (via EW) has posted an image of a TV Guide listing that also uses The Mist as the Season 6 subtitle.

Of course, when we think of The Mist, we either think of Stephen King's 1980 novella The Mist or the 2007 feature film — directed by Frank Darabont and starring Thomas Jane — based on it. However, it seems highly unlikely that there would any connection between American Horror Story and King's tale.

So, what could The Mist be about? Well, while we know many of the Season 6 teasers are misdirects, it doesn't mean all of them are. In fact, the teaser FX put out on August 12th is actually titled "The Mist" and features a terrifying creature with very little facial features crouched over train tracks, and it comes charging towards the camera.

However, it seems that a few media snafus might've spilled the show's secrete ahead of time. After Rotten Tomatoes listed the sixth season as American Horror Story: The Mist online before yanking it, TV Guide fanned rumors of the title's legitimacy. A Reddit user noticed the magazine also referred to the show as The Mist in its latest issue. Of course, this rumor has led fans to wonder whether the new season might be based off Stephen King's novella The Mist. However, others have noted the collaboration would be unlikely as Spike previously picked up the story for their own 10-episode series.

AHS titled revealed in TV Guide? This is in their schedule in the latest issue.
