Did Fear The Walking Dead Just Reveal Immunity in The Walking Dead Universe?

Each week, Talking Dead with Chris Hardwick shares a special clip from the next episode of Fear The Walking Dead. This week, that clip was a conversation between Nick and the leader of La Colonia, Alejandro.

A chat between an established leader and a new resident is nothing new, but the content of this meeting could have great implications for the entire Walking Dead universe.

The clip begins as Alejandro leads Nick out of a doorway, and turns to bend his ear. First, he tells Nick of another young addict he knew. He talked of how this young man was reckless, and he had never been too kind to Alejandro.

We think we're just watching a cautionary tale, but the conversation starts shifting to something much more meaningful.

Alejandro tells Nick that he happened upon a surprise as the young man was being attacked by the walkers. Unable to get away, Alejandro was bit while fighting for his life. As he fell, he says a hand reached down to pull him up to safety.

Luciana was the one who got him out, and he says he knew what came next. Alejandro tells Nick that Luciana took him home, and they waited for the infection to come.

Nick starting putting together the pieces and finished the thought. He replied, "It never came."

With one simple word, Alejandro changed the entire landscape of the series. "No."

In the episode titled Los Muertos, it was revealed to Nick that Alejandro had been bitten. Fans began to speculate on whether there was a cure, or if some were immune.

This clip settles that score, as Alejandro never took any kind of medicine for the bite.

While this could be a huge revelation to the franchise, there are some who wouldn't want to see this kind of change brought to the franchise. Brandon Davis, The Walking Dead Insider for ComicBook.com, thinks any truth to Alejandro's story would be an enormous mistake.

"Introducing a cure to the infection in Fear The Walking Dead would have been a huge misstep for the franchise. Fear hauls in a quarter of the viewership The Walking Dead does. Changing the mythology of such a deeply established universe would feel like a way to obligate more viewers to both shows, while they'll really find more success operating independently."

Of course, this could all be a lie. As some speculate, this could be Alejandro's way of keeping those in La Colonia believing he is larger than life.

Then again, he could be telling the truth. If he is, everything changes for the characters. Not only on Fear The Walking Dead, but also for Rick and his people on The Walking Dead.
