Daniel Radcliffe On Whether He Would Play Harry Potter Again

At the end of August, The New York Daily News reported that their sources had informed them that Warner Bros. is interested in turning Harry Potter and the Cursed Child -- the new stage play that focuses on Potter's youngest son, Albus Severus -- into a trilogy and are prepared to "throw huge sums of cash" at it to make it happen.

Which, let's be honest, is totally possible since we know from the upcoming Harry Potter prequel Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, the studio isn't ready to put the franchise to bed just yet and is open to expanding upon it.

However, a day after that rumor was reported, WB told The Huffington Post there are "no plans" to make a Harry Potter and the Cursed Child film.

If WB does move forward with a Harry Potter and the Cursed Child film, would Daniel Radcliffe be interested in reprising the role?

"I'm never going to close the door; that would be a stupid thing to do," Radcliffe told The Hollywood Reporter at the Deauville Film Festival. "But I think I'll be happy enough and secure enough to let someone else play it.

"At the moment it's not even a concern because I'm too young to play the character, but even in 10 years' time I would still feel strange about going back to it.

"There's a part of me that's like, some things are better left untouched. If we went back to Potter, there's a chance we'd make what Star Wars: The Force Awakens was to the original Star Wars, but there's also the chance that we'd make Phantom Menace," he joked. "So I don't want to go back to anything like that and maybe sour what people have already loved."
