What you’re about to read is dark, and it’s probably similar to something you’ve already heard throughout off-season long, but on the bright side we’re only four weeks away from Negan’s kill being revealed in The Walking Dead Season 7 premiere and being able to join the cast in talking about the episode’s brutality.

For now, though, we have to take the cast’s word for it on just how brutal the premiere is going to be and they’re not being shy about it.

“The beginning of next season is going to be very tough and pretty graphic and horrible,” says Jesus actor Tom Payne. “But it sets up the whole season, it’s the beginning of the whole next story, it sets up Negan, this awful, awful person and the things that he is capable of doing. And that sets up the challenge for Season 7, and I recognize you probably could have done that at the end of Season 6 but I think it’s going to be a really great opener.”

Payne is not even a part of the Negan scene and most of the cast members haven’t seen the upcoming premiere yet, so there must be a good bit of chatter amongst the cast members involved with the Negan kill scene for word to travel the cast from the Hilltop.

“Unfortunately I think a lot of people who are wishing for the death and wishing that they had seen it, I think after the first episode they might wish they hadn’t wished for it because it’s going to be very brutal and a huge downer,” Payne goes on.

While Payne’s Jesus won’t be a part of the brutal Negan introduction, he will likely cross paths with the villain on television as his role grows immensely as the communities rally to take down the Saviors.
