Jurassic World 2 Working Title Revealed

Dinosaurs haven't inherited the Earth yet, but they've come close through Jurassic Park. The iconic franchise returned to cinemas last summer with Jurassic World, and fans flocked to see the blockbuster. Naturally, Universal Pictures was quick to okay a sequel, and it looks like that upcoming film has a production title now.

Currently, the working title for the next Jurassic World film is 'Ancient Futures.' This definitely doesn't mean the upcoming movie will reach theaters with that title; All it means is that Universal Pictures is gearing up to start production on the film. Working titles are usually picked before shooting gets underway to prevent scheduling or production conflicts.

Fans already knew the sequel would start filming in Hawaii come February. The tropical location has usually been used to portray the fictional island of Isla Nubar. Filming will also take place in London. In fact, much of the primary filming will take place in London, indicating that Jurassic World 2 will be set away from Isla Nubar.

Colin Trevorrow will co-write the film while Antonio Bayona directs, and he's kept fairly quiet about its storyline. However, he did recently speak with Collider about the film and said it would be a scary film.

"It will be more suspenseful and scary. It's just the way it's designed," he said. "It's the way the story plays out. I knew I wanted [J.A.] Bayona to direct it long before anyone ever heard that was a possibility, so the whole thing was just built around his skillset"

Trevorrow also said there was on element of Jurassic World that would be missing from the sequel: militarized dinosaurs.

"I'm not that interested in militarized dinosaurs, at least not in practice," he admitted. "I liked it in theory as the pipe dream of a lunatic."

The writer's words expand on some of his previous comments. Trevorrow told Wired Magazine the sequel would focus on cloning dinosaurs. And, what's more, he stressed Jurassic World 2 wouldn't focus on "a bunch of dinosaurs chasing people on an island" since its been done too much.

Jurassic World 2 is slated to come out on June 22, 2018. There's no word yet on when the third film of the confirmed trilogy when hit theaters afterwards.
