Actor Levi Meaden is having a good year in his young career. The actor is currently starring on a crazy show on Syfy called Aftermath, dealing with the Mayan version of the apocalypse. On the series he plays Matt Copeland, a member of a family trying to stick together and survive in the face of solar flares, hurricanes, earthquakes, skinwalking demons, a rage virus, and some sort of dinosaur god creature - we mentioned it was crazy, right?

But that's only the start for Meaden, as he's also been cast in Pacific Rim: Maelstrom, the highly anticipated sequel to Guillermo Del Toro's instant cult classic movie of monsters versus giant robots. There he'll be starring alongside John Boyega, Scott Eastwood, and more rising stars, and the actor couldn't be happier.

"I'm a huge Guillermo del Toro fan, so I loved the first one. I mean, it's giant monsters fighting giant robots! You got what you expected out of it and it was a lot of fun!" Meaden told ComicBook.com. He went to the audition for the sequel, and felt like "it was crazy" after watching the first in theaters and loving it so much.

"It's a new team, a great team. We got Steven DeKnight who just did the last season of Daredevil. They're taking it in a whole new direction and there's a lot of stuff going on. I'm just excited to get out there, see the set, see what we're dealing with," he said. "It's going to be a lot of fun! I'm super excited, stoked, and kind of aghast at the whole thing!"

Meaden said he didn't think it'd fully sink in until the movie comes out, which is currently projected for February 2018.

As for more genre projects, Meaden, an admitted big comic book and comic book movie fan, has his sights set on another character del Toro has been at least tangentially involved with. The writer-director developed a Justice League Dark movie, though his involvement with it has reportedly ceased. Still, Meaden would love to be involved as a younger version of his favorite character.

"John Constantine! I want to play John Constantine so bad. That's the dude that I [read] and I'm like, I'd love to play him. Me and his personalities meld so well," he said. "I gotta work on the accent but otherwise that's pretty much it. You just play Sting, and smoke, and fight demons. That's right up my alley, I'd love to play him!"
