How will they react? “The biggest fear for Caitlin and for Team Flash is how powerful they are and how much of an unknown they are,” Danielle Panabaker told EW. “We’re only getting used to dealing with metahumans with these powers that have generally come from the particle accelerator explosion, or Doctor Alchemy, and those are formulas we’re a little more used to. Having these guys come in from who knows where, the biggest question mark for all of them is starting to figure out how they’re going to battle them.”
In the 1988 comic book crossover series, The Dominators invaded Earth because they believed metahumans (a term they coined) posed a clear and present danger to the state of the universe. When their invasion begins to crumble, they create and detonate a Gene Bomb, a weapon that causes metahumans to lose control of their powers and eventually fall into a coma and die. Luckily, Martian Manhunter and a group of other heroes unaffected by the Gene Bomb use Dominator technology to save the day. It is later revealed that The Dominator’s goal was to control the metahumans, not kill them.
