New Kong: Skull Island Sneak Peek Teaser Released

In three days, fans of King Kong will get to bow down to the massive ape when the upcoming film’s trailer drops. The blockbuster is teasing fans about the footage with daily teaser clips which highlight key scenes in the film. And, today, King Kong himself cameos in the teaser.

The 13-second clip is short, but it certainly roars to life when King Kong makes an appearance. The footage shows several soldiers huddled together in a military helicopter, but their ride is interrupted by a towering beast. Footage reveals that King Kong is towering above the aircraft in mid-flight, and the clip then ends when the ape gives a mighty roar.

With a King Kong film on the way, fans are wondering how the iconic character can reinvent itself to entertain new audiences. His last cinematic outing debut to lukewarm fanfare, but director Jordan Vogt-Roberts says the new film will make Kong relatable once again.

"Kong is a very tragic and relatable figure, like Kong just goes to A) The idea of being misunderstood, which everyone can relate to, and B) That humans have a fascination with apes and where we came from and things that we don’t understand,” he told Entertainment Weekly.

“The reason that I was particularly interested in taking on this story is not only those elements of Kong and the fact that he is film history, but in particular in this instance, in our time period which is 1973, I was really interested in exploring the idea of the need for myths — why we need myths, why myths exist in our life. Right now, in our modern society, we are destroying myths through all of our technology and we have access to everything with our cell phones, which is amazing and it’s also taken away some of the wonder of the world."

Kong: Skull Island reimagines the origin of the mythic Kong in a compelling, original adventure from director Jordan Vogt-Roberts. In the film, a diverse team of explorers is brought together to venture deep into an uncharted island in the Pacific—as beautiful as it is treacherous—unaware that they’re crossing into the domain of the mythic Kong.
