Since the start of Arrow season 5, John Diggle has had a lot thrown at him. A place he sought refuge in didn’t turn out to be so safe, and people he placed trust in turned out to be anything but trustworthy.

Change will continue to be the theme for Diggle, played by David Ramsey, throughout the rest of season 5. Upon returning to Team Arrow, Diggle isn’t rejoining the well-oiled machine he left after season 4. This team is possibly as hungry, but nowhere near as experienced, and Diggle will be a big part of whipping them into shape.
At this weekend’s Heroes & Villains Fan Fest, Ramsey addressed the new team, saying that it’s been fun despite the sheer amount of new characters involved, who at times he loses track of. “Stephen and I have a lot of fun together,” Ramsey says. Paul Blackthorne, who plays Quentin Lance on the show, quickly chimed in and said he gets annoyed by the “bottom pinching” among the two of them.
It’s not all bad for Diggle though, as he did receive an upgrade to his costume upon returning to the group, including a redesigned helmet. Ramsey is ecstatic with the new design, saying “Thank the lord!” in regards to his new headgear.
The character is just starting to get used to his new teammates, but soon he’ll have a slew of other names to learn when Arrow, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, and The Flash crossover for the big Invasion! story arc. Photos have already been released that show the various team members trying to sort things out, and also show the reemergence of Willa Hollands Speedy in the mix, so at least Diggle will recognize a familiar face.
The official synopsis for the crossover event is below.
