Actor Ron Glass has passed away at the age of 71, according to The Wrap.

Known for his roles as Detective Ron Harris in Barney Miller and, more recently, Shepard Derrial Book in Firefly and Serenity, Glass started acting for television in 1973. His first role was a guest spot on All in the Family and recently appeared on Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

After getting a few spots on shows such as Maude and The Bob Newhart Show, Glass eventually got his first regular gig in 1975 on Barney Miller. He was even a regular and prominent voice actor, lending his vocal talents to characters in classics such as Rugrats, Superman, Aladdin and The Proud Family.
There have been no further details released about his passing, according to TV Line.
