The Green Lantern Corps is made up of a unique mix of ring bearers, all who have been deemed worthy to hold one of the most powerful weapons in the universe. The superstars of the WWE aren’t really ring people, as they prefer tables, chairs, and kendo sticks, but all the people in the ring have also been deemed worthy by WWE to carry the brand of the company.

The corps has it all, from outcasts and soldiers to squirrels and aliens who like to call you poozer, and that variety is what makes it so compelling. That mix is also a bit volatile, liable to change at any time, and your favorite lantern might evolve into something else completely over the course of a year. Fans of WWE storylines are quite familiar with this premise and have seen some of their favorites live long enough to become the villain (though in Big Show’s case that’s like once a week).

Without further ado, here is the WWE Green Lantern Corps.

Big Cass As Kilowog

Big Cass isn’t afraid to use his impressive stature to intimidate foes before they even step into the ring. Once he does walk in, he’s brute force personified, much like everyone’s favoriteย drill sergeantย Kilowog.

Kilowog has to have a unique mix of bluster and patienceย as he trains the newest generation of Lanterns, but he’s still called into action frequently, and he uses those situations to let off some steam. Cass must have the patience of Job to deal with Enzo on a regular basis, so if he can do that he can most certainly handle training a group of up and comers. When the time for combat calls, though, he’s always ready to make his presence felt.

Brie Bella As Soranik Natu

Soranik Natu has been on both sides of the fight between the Yellow Lanterns of fear and the Green Lanterns of will, but even when she was on the opposite side, she still found a way to implement herย vision.

Brie Bella is the same in that regard, as she’s been both a hero and a villain during her WWE career. Regardless of what side she’s on at the time, though, there is only so much Brie will take before she asserts herself and fights for what’s right. Brie even has a catchphrase already, going into “Brie Mode” before she knocks someone out in the ring, and with a Lantern ring, you know that move would suddenly feel like being hit by an 18 wheeler.

Both might be confused about what side they’re on, but their inner character will always win out in the end.

Dean Ambrose As Guy Gardner

Guy Gardner is an acquired taste, but over time you grow to love him. His mix of hard-headedness and volatile energy is infectious, and while he isn’t the most tactical, he can be extremely effective.

Dean Ambrose is equally effective, and for many of the same reasons.ย He’s much more inclined to clothesline you a few times than try a frog splash off the turnbuckle, and it’s hard to argue with the results, as he rode that method to a stint as WWE heavyweight champion.

If someone told you that Guy was also called the Lunatic Fringe, you might believe them, and that speaks to how alike these two fan favorites are.

Seth Rollins As Salaak

With all the Lanterns out in the universe, someone has to keep things organized, and for the Corps that job falls to Salaak. He’s long been the brains behind the operation, and it falls to him to view the big picture when Guy Gardner just wants to go hit something.

They call Seth Rollins the Architect for a reason, as during his stint with the SHIELD he kept the train focused on its heading. Trying to get the pure power of Roman Reigns and the unbridled frenetic energy of Dean Ambrose on the same page would be extremely difficult for anyone, but Rollins handled it with ease.

While he likes to call the shots, Salaak and Rollins are both unafraid to get in the middle of a skirmish, serving as a reminder of why they hold such a vaunted place on their rosters.

John Cena As Hal Jordan

If you asked a random gathering of fans the question of who their favorite Green Lantern is, you might get a smattering of answers that include names like Hal Jordan, John Stewart, Kyle Rayner, and Guy Gardner. If you asked them who the most iconic Green Lantern is, they would most likely all say Hal Jordan.

The character can be divisive, as he’s been the center of some controversial storylines over the years, but he’s inarguably the most recognizable and popular Lantern ever to wear a ring. His charisma, confidence, and perseverance are all traits that are to be admired, and if that sounds like a certain WWE superstar, it should.

John Cena’s mantra is never give up, and no matter the circumstances he will always find a way to come out the other side better than he was before. Jordan has faced some immense obstacles, as has Cena, but both pride themselves upon dusting themselves off after failure and trying harder the next time. Everyone might not like them, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t the right people for the job.
