Tonght’s midseason finale of Arrow, titled “What We Leave Behind,” put Oliver and Team Arrow through the wringer — but in doing so it brought them together, stronger than before, and when they have a little time to step back and examine things, it may very well have provided them with some key information in tracking down Prometheus and solving some of the season’s big mysteries.

Of course, it didn’t give some clues without asking some new questions. What will it mean for Oliver that Green Arrow is likely going to be affiliated with the death of a police officer? How will Team Arrow reveal to that last-minute twist — and can that character, returning out of the blue and at the team’s lowest moment, even be trusted?
Those answers won’t come until after the midseason return in late January, but between now and then, fans will be speculating about all that and more — and thanks to tonight’s episode, they’ll have a few potentially key clues to help them out.
So…what did we spot? Read on…!
PROMETHEUS MAKES A DEADLY MOVE AGAINST OLIVER AND THE TEAM — After Prometheus attacks Curtis (Echo Kellum), Oliver (Stephen Amell) realizes Prometheus knows all of Team Arrow’s secret identities and is planning to come for them one by one. Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) and Detective Malone (guest star Tyler Ritter) discover a clue that links Prometheus to Oliver’s past.
Antonio Negret directed the episode written by Wendy Mericle & Beth Schwartz.
Arrow airs on Wednesday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW. New episodes return on January 25, 2017.

THE PHOTO
Obviously, the biggest piece of information is the photo, and the revelation that Prometheus is definitely a male. This is something that’s been widely assumed, but given the head-to-toe coverings and the voice modulator, it theoretically could have been a misdirect.
Of course…Prometheus has been ten steps ahead of everyone so far this season, so there’s always the possibility that he isn’t actually Claybourne’s son at all and that the photo itself is a misdirect. That, though, would require the exact scenario where one of Oliver’s allied would come to the desk drawer, provide the photo to Felicity, and then be taken out of circulation before anything else could come into play. That would be a hell of a gamble.
But could the photo be a big clue? Certainly. If we’re Team Arrow, one of the first things we’d be doing is having somebody run one of those cool aging algorithms on the photo to come up with some ideas of what a thirty-year-old Prometheus might look like, and see whether that face is familiar to anybody in the room.
It also — again, assuming the photo is legit and that the photo is of Prometheus — presumably ticks a number of the most popular fan theories off the list. Oliver, Thea, and company could easily recognize Robert Queen or Tommy Merlyn, for instance, and their lack of recognition or comment indicates that ain’t them.
THE GIRL FROM RUSSIA
When Oliver fights Prometheus for the first time this week, he realizes that the two shared a training regimen at some point — and deduces that in the four years since Oliver killed Prometheus’s father, it’s likely the villain spent some time around a woman he knew from Russia.
In all likelihood, this is going to be League of Assassins-style training from Talia Head, the daughter of Ra’s al Ghul, who has recently been confirmed to appear in the Arrow season 5 flashbacks.
What will that tell Oliver about Prometheus? And will Talia be turning up in the present-day story as well? If so, will she be welcoming to the man who both killed her father and tore down the League of Assassins? Or will Prometheus find a dangerous kindred spirit?
THE VODKA
What is Susan Williams up to?
We all know she’s on the heels of Oliver’s Russian adventures, but more than that, what’s she doing serving up that Russian vodka from a familiar bottle (which the camera stayed on just a little bit too long)?
The immediate conclusion to draw is the perhaps she’s in league with either the Bratva, or Prometheus, or both — but it could be something else altogether…!
