If you are one of the thousands waiting for Kong: Skull Island to beat its way into theaters, then you will have your wish granted next year. The thrilling monster flick is slated to premiere on March 10, 2017 with stars like Tom Hiddleston and Brie Larson on its team. The movie will reimagine the origin of King Kong as a group of explorers and researchers stumble upon Skull Island by happenstance.

But, if you are not at least 13 years old, then seeing the movie may be hard. It looks like the official rating for Kong: Skull Island has been announced, and it has been gifted a PG-13 rating.
The folks over at Stitch Kingdom reported on the rating earlier today. The site says Kong: Skull Island will be rating PG-13 “for intense sequences of sci-fi violence and action, and for brief strong language.”
Looking at its reasoning, fans can understanding why the blockbuster was given such a rating. As the movie is focused on King Kong, action sequences and violence are all but guaranteed. And, for most fans, they can understand why some brief strong language may be heard from the characters once they stumble across the mammoth ape.
If you are not familiar with Kong: Skull Island, you still have time to learn about the film. In the movie, a team of explorers will find themselves navigating the deepest trenches of Skull Island, an uncharted locale in the Pacific. However, the group is unaware that they have stepped foot into the sacred home of a mythical creature, and King Kong is none too happy with the intruders.
Kong: Skull Island is the second installment of Legendary Pictures’ Godzilla-Kong franchise. The universe debuted in 2014 with Godzilla whose sequel is slated to debut in 2019. Then, by 2020, the two monsters will go head-to-head in Godzilla vs. Kong.
