What a great way to start off Christmas morning!
The red band trailer for the upcoming science-fiction horror film begins with footage of a bloody trail of footprints stretching along a ship's corridor. We then see a woman (played by Amy Seimetz) hustling down the corridor, gasping for air. She peers into a room that has been quaratined with two crewmembers: one male, one female (played by Carmen Ejogo). The male is infected with an alien creature (known as a neomorph) that is in the process of bursting through his back. As you would suspect, the female crew member trapped with him is freaking out and demanding to be let out. Reluctantly, Seimetz holds her ground, knowing that the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. Both women completely lose their minds once they look back and see the creature break skin (and bones). We then get quick shots of a frightened Seimetz running away and Ejogo preparing to defend herself by holding a knife and pointing it nervously at the creature. Good luck!
That was just the first thirty-seconds of a two-minute trailer. I'm sold! But is everyone else?

Director Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created, with ALIEN: COVENANT, a new chapter in his groundbreaking ALIEN franchise. The crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the "synthetic" David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition. When they uncover a threat beyond their imagination, they must attempt a harrowing escape.
The cast features Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup, Danny McBride, Demián Bichir, Carmen Ejogo, Amy Seimetz, Jussie Smollett, Callie Hernandez, Nathaniel Dean, Alexander England, and Benjamin Rigby.

Kinda not on board with the #AlienCovenant trailer. It looks gorgeous but there's a really weird vibe going on. Gonna remain cautious.— (((JonathanBarkan))) (@JonathanBarkan) December 25, 2016
I hope #AlienCovenant expands on the series and doesn't retread the original. Excited but also underwhelmed by the new trailer.— Wajahat Ali (@WajahatAli) December 25, 2016
I want to believe Kenny Powers does blow with a face hugger and then fucks some shit up in Alien: Covenant— A Jason Tabrys (@jtabrys) December 25, 2016
Prometheus had great trailers, ended up really disappointing. This Alien Covenant thing looks dumb so maybe it'll end up great?— Tim Torres (@pleasedtomeetya) December 25, 2016
Alien Covenant trailer looks great, and I'm glad there are better writers aboard now, aside from the guy who wrote Transcendence— Devindra Hardawar (@Devindra) December 25, 2016

Somehow both too revealing and not revealing enough.
Callbacks to original movie: hmm.
We don't need a Force Awakens.
Got Christmas off to a jolly start watching the Alien trailer and an extended In Memoriam piece on BBC News. Merry Christmas all!— Ben Skipper (@bskipper27) December 25, 2016
The new alien trailer just leaves me feeling it's going to be all the flaws of prometheus all over again. Beautiful and senseless.— Stephen Toulouse (@Stepto) December 25, 2016
Hmm...trailer for new Alien movie just not doing it for me. I don't think there's much new to be done with that IP. Put it to bed for 20 yrs— Raphael van Lierop (@RaphLife) December 25, 2016

The new Alien trailer shows clearly you should never not wear a spacesuit even on a Earth-like planet, and yet there they are DOING IT. GUH.— Rikki Simons (@rikkisimons) December 25, 2016
