Next Saturday, Dragon Ball Super is set to debut in the U.S. over on Toonami. The nightly program will unveil the English dub of the anime courtesy of Funimation, and this new trailer reintroduces longtime fans to some familiar voices. Goten can be heard asking his father Goku why he must keep training so hard, and the elder Saiyan tells his son that he must protect the Earth.

“Majin Buu was ridiculously strong. One day, someone ever stronger could show up,” Goku explains. And, of course, he was right.

The first saga of Dragon Ball Super is none other than the ‘God of Destruction Beerus’ arc. The 14 episode storyline finds Goku pitted against his universe’s God of Destruction after Beerus is disturbed by an odd dream. The cat-like god then travels with his escort Whis to find Goku and, and Beerus becomes obsessed with fighting the Z-Fighter in the Super Saiyan God state.

Unsurprisingly, Beerus proves to be a challenge. The godly figure does not play around when it comes to battle, and Toonami is ready to bring the arc to U.S. fans.

When Dragon Ball Super debuts on Toonami, it will do so from the first episode. It may take awhile for Toonami to catch up with Dragon Ball Super‘s 70+ episodes, but it will definitely be worth the wait. In February, a brand-new story arc is set to kick off with the ‘Universal Survival’ saga. You can check out the brief synopsis for it below:

“At Goku’s request, the Omni-Kings’ “Tournament of Power” martial arts tournament between universes now begins! โ€ฆBut this also proves to be the beginning of universal destruction. What awaits the victors of this tournament, and the vanquishedโ€ฆ?! How will these intense team battles between the elites of each universe turn outโ€ฆ?!”

Shortly after the arc was announced, producer Shunki Hashizume had this to say about the impending saga. “Dragon Ball Super enters its new chapter, the “Universe Survival Arc”. As you can see from the main visual, it’ll be a full-throttle story where Goku and the rest of the Universe 7 warriors form a team to take on a tournament between universes!” he wrote.

“Artificial Human No. 17 and Majin Boo are there too, so personally I can’t contain my excitement at the thought of what kind of fights we’ll see! Look forward to this new chapter that’ll be sure to feature super-intense battles with nonstop appearances by the elites of each universe!”
