Game of Thrones' Maisie Williams Stars In Trailer for Netflix Superhero Movie iBoy

Ever since Arya Stark became a fan-favorite on the HBO fantasy television series Game of Thrones, the geek community has longed to see Maisie Williams appear in a superhero film. As of right now, she's still rumored to be playing Rahne Sinclair (a.k.a. Wolfsbane) — a feral, Scottish shape-shifter — in Josh Boone's X-Men: The New Mutants. If she does eventually land the role, it won't be her first superhero film.

Today, Netflix has released the first traler for their upcoming superhero movie iBoy. It stars Williams and Bill Milner and is based on the novel of the same name by Kevin Brooks.

Tom is an average teenager whose world is turned on its head when a violent encounter with local thugs leaves fragments of his shattered smartphone embedded in his brain. He wakes from a coma to discover that returning to normal teenage life is impossible because he has developed a strange set of superpowers. With these new powers he sets out to seek revenge on the gang, who also assaulted his best friend Lucy.

The XYZ Films and Wigwam Films/Pretty Pictures production is directed by Adam Randall and written by Joe Barton. Gail Mutrux for Pretty Pictures and Emily Leo, Oliver Roskill and Lucan Toh for Wigwam Films will be producing the film, alongside Nate Bolotin and Nick Spicer for XYZ Films, who are also financing. Tore Schmidt is executive producing for Pretty Pictures. Gabe Scarpelli of XYZ is co-producing.

iBoy is a Netflix original film starring Bill Milner, Maisie Williams, Miranda Richardson, and Rory Kinnear. It will stream globally on January 27!
