Green Room, Blue Ruin, and Murder Party are some of the best genre films released in recent years and they all have a few things in common. One if that they were all directed by Jeremy Saulnier, but another commonality is they all star Macon Blair. The actor went behind the camera to write and direct I Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore, which just had its premiere at Sundance, which just got a trailer a release date from Netflix.
Starring Melanie Lynskey and Elijah wood, the film features the story of Ruth (Lynskey), a nursing assistant suffering through a crisis of existential despair. But when her house is burglarized, Ruth discovers a renewed sense of purpose in tracking down the thieves. Accompanied by her obnoxious martial-arts-enthusiast neighbor Tony (Wood), they soon find themselves dangerously out of their depth against a pack of degenerate criminals.

The film also stars David Yow, Jane Levy, Devon Graye, Christine Woods, Robert Longstreet, Lee Eddy and Gary Anthony Williams.
Much like frequent collaborator Saulnier’s films, Blair’s film has a distinct look, thanks to cinematographer Larkin Seiple (Swiss Army Man, Cop Car).
I Don’t Feel at Home has been one of the most talked about genre films out of the festival, with much acclaim going towards Lynskey, who’s always a joy to watch on film.
The movie looks like an interesting blend of black humor and violence, and considering Blair’s success rate in recent years, the movie is sure to be a memorable one.
Keep your eyes out for I Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore on Netflix February 24.
