The CW has released a new TV spot for Riverdale, and it looks like Veronica Lodge will join up with Josie and the Pussycats in "Faster, Pussycats! Kill! Kill!" when it airs on Thursday night.
There isn't a clear reason yet, although ever since Archie and Valerie have been spending some time together in recent weeks, fans have been speculating that could put some tension on the Pussycats. Heck, ComicBook.com even speculated about it ourselves!
"We don't have time for Archie, especially me," Murray told ComicBook.com during a conversation at Comic Con International: San Diego. "Archie's a threat. Josie and her Pussycats are A-list in Riverdale. We're where it's at. Everybody knows if they want to have a good time, if they want their party to be poppin' with live music, it's got to be the Pussycats. So when this hot, good-looking guy shows up who happens to be talented and wants my guidance, it creates this dynamic of where I start to get nervous. There's also that issue with my Pussycats thinking he's cute, so there's some defiance going on and a crumbling in the empire."
Of course, it's hard to know what to make of it if that's the case, since Valerie is onstage with the band performing a cover of Donna Summer's "I Feel Love."
In any event, it looks like Camila Mendes will be suiting up alongside Ashleigh Murray, Hayley Law, and Asha Bromfield when they suit up in the iconic Josie and the Pussycats costumes.
"I have been asking for that costume since Comic-Con!" Murray told ComicBook.com during a recent visit to the set of Riverdale, the joy evident in her voice. "The second I landed in San Diego and I saw Roberto [Aguirre-Sacasa], I was like, 'is there any way it's going to happen? Please tell me we're going to be in those costumes!' I wanted to walk around Comic Con in those costumes! That's the thing: I am so in love with this character and so in love with the things that they've done and who they are and who we want them to be."
