Harry Potter film alum Jason Isaacs has been cast in as Captain Lorca of the Starship Discovery in Star Trek: Discovery. Isaacs played Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter film franchise. More recently he played the villain of Netflix's The OA.
In a break with Star Trek tradition, Captain Lorca will note be the show's lead protagonist. Instead, the show will focus on a lieutenant played by Sonequa Martin-Green (The Walking Dead).
The cast of Star Trek: Discovery will also include Michelle Yeoh as Captain Georgiou, the captain of another Starfleet ship, the Shenzhou, that is important to the plot of Star Trek: Discovery.
Other cast members include James Frain (Gotham) as Sarek, Spock's father, Dough Jones (Hellboy) as science officer Lt. Saru who is a member of an alien race being introduced in Star Trek: Discovery, and Anthony Rapp as Lt. Stamets, another Starfleet science officer.
