The Wonder Woman marketing campaign received some backlash after a women only screening of the film was announced, unearthing a number of arguments and stark opinions on social media. For Avengers actor Don Cheadle, those arguments hold no weight.

The movie was made to appeal to EVERYBODY WORLDWIDE! That’s how our biz works! It’s a few screenings. Good for them. You should ๐๐ฟ๐๐ฟ๐๐ฟ https://t.co/XN61M8szwu

The actor has found himself challenging a plethora of commenters on his Twitter feed about the screenings, including one that sarcastically read “Yes, because that’s what we need…more division in America” (via Yahoo). To that Cheadle said “An all women screening of Wonder Woman pits men against women? How?”
A user responded that it’s because the film was made for both men and women, and not a feminist exclusive. Cheadle said “The movie was made to appeal to EVERYBODY WORLDWIDE! That’s how our biz works! It’s a few screenings. Good for them. You should ๐๐ฟ๐๐ฟ๐๐ฟ”.
When someone made the “how would a male only screening of Superman go over” argument, Cheadle didn’t hold back. “Stupidly. There’s no point to men making a point about celebrating themselves. That’s called “the planet.” Claro?” He didn’t seem to be buying it.
