Last night, Chadwick Boseman dropped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! to talk about his current projects, and Marvel was one of the chat’s highlights. The Black Panther star took a moment to talk about his involvement with Avengers: Infinity War. When asked about the film’s cast, Boseman said there are usually 8-9 actors on set at a time, but he could only mention one by name.

“The one I can say is Mark Ruffalo,” Boseman teased.
Sadly, the actor could not say much else about filming thanks to Marvel Studios and its iron-clad security. The company is notoriously careful with its secrets, and Boseman does not want to be the one who steps on the studio’s toes. Still, Boseman’s specific name-drop of Ruffalo has given fans space to speculate.
Recently, Ruffalo was connected with the Black Panther when Boseman shared a picture on Twitter. The actor posted a photo to thank fans for their support of Black Panther after its trailer dropped, and the selfie featured a guest since Ruffalo could be seen smiling over Boseman’s shoulder. The photo paired with the actor’s recent mention of Ruffalo has fans wondering if the Black Panther will share some scenes with the Hulk. The Wakandan king may be powerful, but even his tribal gifts would be challenged by the Hulk if the two don’t get along.
Fans have known for quite some time that Avengers: Infinity War will feature a massive cast; It would not be surprising to see Black Panther team up with the Hulk at some point. Recently, another Marvel star teased just how many Marvel characters would appear in the film. Scarlett Johansson told Stephen Colbert on The Late Show there’s more than 60 characters total at one point.
“At one point I do think that the Infinity Wars there are, I think at one point 61 or 62 Marvel characters in it,” Johansson said. “[In] one particular scene, there’s like 32 of us. There’s a lot.”
Time will only show fans just how Avengers: Infinity War divvies up its cast. With so many characters packed into one film, the MCU roster will need to divide and conquer as they take on Thanos. Black Panther may elect to team up with the Hulk and a few other heroes in the face of post-Civil War tension. So, let’s all just hope the king doesn’t make the big guy too angry.
Avengers: Infinity War is described by Marvel Studios as the culmination of everything in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since Iron Man in 2008. The movie is filming now under directors Anthony and Joe Russo, from a screenplay by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.
The expansive confirmed cast includes Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Holland, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bethany, Sebastian Stan, Benedict Cumberbatch, Benedict Wong, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Karen Gillan, Vin Diesel, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Pom Klementieff, and Josh Brolin as the villain Thanos.
Avengers: Infinity War and its as-yet-untitled sequel are filming back-to-back for a May 4, 2018 and May 3, 2019 release, respectively.
