While each Marvel Studios film tends to build off of other plot points or include easter eggs, few of them dwell in the history of the franchise like Spider-Man‘s latest reboot. Seriously, there are plenty. We don’t want to ruin all of them for you here; you’ll just have to wait and see when it comes out next week.

Some of the less spoiler-y references are overt, such as Tony Stark’s mentorship of Peter Parker. Others are a bit more clever, like the inclusion of Damage Control and their presence cleaning up alien debris from the Battle of New York being one of the major reasons why the Vulture becomes a villain.

Spider-Man: Homecoming director Jon Watts spoke about the ties at a press event for the film, during which he said the movie’s sequel will likely have even more references than this one.

“I really try to think about this stuff just one movie at a time,” Watts said, “but I do feel like now that Spider-Man is a part of this big crazy universe we can definitely tell some new stories.”

We’re eager to learn more about the sequel โ€” such as which Marvel hero it will feature besides Iron Man โ€” but at this point we’re just happy we even get to see an MCU movie with the Wallcrawler. It’s time to cherish this moment.โ€จโ€จ
