Although Carrie Fisher certainly isn’t the first Star Wars actor to pass away, she was certainly one of the most iconic and active, recently starring in The Force Awakens and playing an integral part in the upcoming The Last Jedi. Recent rumors have surfaced that claim the closing credits of the upcoming film will serve as a tribute to the actress’ contributions not just to the saga, but to who she was as a person.
According to TheHashtagShow, super fan Mike Zeroh reported from a source at Pinewood Studios (where the Star Wars film was shot) that Disney and Lucasfilm have decided to include the tribute during the credits, something that would break tradition from the classic credits seen in the previous eight films.

In a YouTube video, Zeroh explained, “A couple of months ago [it was said that] both Disney and Lucasfilm were including a Carrie Fisher tribute at the very end of The Last Jedi within the credits.” He added, “It would be a little thing that they would showโฆ[leaving] the fans teary-eyed.”

“What’s really great, reportedly, is that John Williams did a little mini score for that sequence [by] itself alone,” claims Zeroh. “It will be a great send off to Carrie Fisher as an actress, as a person, as a script doctor โ just an amazing individual to say the least.”
Thanks to Marvel films and their notoriety for mid and post-credits scenes, fans have grown accustomed to sticking around after the credits have rolled to catch a glimpse of upcoming films. Star Wars has never gone the route of adding extra scenes after the credit, but at the very end of The Phantom Menace, the score dropped out and the sound of Darth Vader breathing could be heard, which is the closest the franchise has come to sneaking in a credits easter egg.
