In a recent interview with MTV, Sebastian Stan teased the grand scope of the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film, which will see a large number of the universe’s heroes dueling against Thanos (Josh Brolin).
“It’s certainly the biggest culmination of anything and everything they’ve done so far,” Stan, who plays Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, explained.
It’s safe to say that production on Infinity War, as well as the currently-filming Avengers 4, has been incredibly secretive. One of Stan’s co-stars, Tom Holland, isn’t even allowed to read the entire script. Stan echoed this, revealing just how much – or little – he knows about Infinity War‘s story.
“I only read what they gave me the day.” Stan added. “It’s usual only a day-to-day thing. I certainly don’t know what I have to do next.”
But what, if anything, does Stan know about one of Bucky’s most pivotal storylines hitting the big screen?
Bucky Cap
Stan was also asked ifย his character could take up the mantle of Captain America, whether in Infinity War or Avengers 4. With theย plotline being theorized about by fans for quite some time, Stanย hinted that it might just be a theory.
“It’s just speculation.” Stan revealed. “I honestly have no idea. I really don’t know what I would said to somebody that would ask me that question.”
In the comics, Buckyย assumed the identity of Captain America,ย a wish that Steve Rogers (played in the MCUย by Chris Evans) put to writing soon before his death. He served as Captain America until the Fear Itself comicย
Fans have wondered if this storyline could make its way into live-action,ย starting back as early as Captain America: Civil War. With Evans suggesting that his days in the MCUย are limited, does Stan think that Buckyย could take up the mantle?
“I don’t know.” Stan added. “We just gotta all survive this war.”
