'Deadpool' Producer on T.J. Miller's Future in the Franchise Following Sexual Harassment Allegations

T.J. Miller, best known to comic fans as Weasel in the Deadpool movies, could see his future plans with the franchise altered after allegations of sexual harassment, assault and abuse were made against him. For now, however, his role going forward hasn't changed.

Lauren Shuler Donner, long-time producer of the X-Men films at Fox, recently spoke to Rotten Tomatoes about the future of the Marvel-based films at the studio, and was asked about the wave of men in the franchise who have recently been outed as alleged sexual predators. Bryan Singer and Brett Ratner, both former X-Men directors, have already had their ties with the studio cut in recent months, and fans have been wondering if the same would be true for Miller.

According to the producer, those decisions haven't been made just yet.

When asked if Miller would be replaced in the upcoming Deadpool 2, Shuler Donner replied, "We're in the final editing. I don't think so."

Recently, Ridley Scott made headlines by replacing Kevin Spacey as the lead actor in All the Money in the World with Christopher Plummer, and still having the film ready to release in a matter of weeks. Fans have called for Miller to receive a similar punishment, but it doesn't look like that will be the case.

As for Miller's future in the X-Men franchise beyond Deadpool 2, Shuler Donner spoke with much less certainty.

"That's a whole studio thing," the producer said. "I don't know."

After the film's release on July 1, decisions will likely need to be made regarding Weasel's role in the coming films. It's also worth keeping in mind that the potential sale to Disney could affect what happens next for everyone involved in the franchise.
