Wonder Woman Officiates A Same-Sex Marriage In Sensation Comics

On top of being a superhero, an ambassador, and a God, Wonder Woman can now add another line on her resume: Wedding officiator.

In this week's Sensation Comics Featuring Wonder Woman, Chapter 48 the DC Comics icon makes history by officiating a same-sex marriage for the first time.

The monumental story arrives from DC newcomer Jason Badower, who both wrote and illustrated the issue. In an interview with the Huffington Post, Badower said that given Wonder Woman's roots on the all-female Paradise Island, it only made sense for the character to tie the knot between two women.

And when the Supreme Court's recent ruling over same-sex marriage gave Badower the perfect time-peg, he said that he knew that he had to tell this particular tale.

"I saw this Wonder Woman story as an incredible opportunity to have one of the most recognizable, iconic characters in the world to be among the first to step forward and officially endorse this new law," he elaborated. "But I thought, let's not just have Wonder Woman embrace this new law, let's have her celebrate it."
