'Dragon Ball Super' Just Saw [SPOILER] Save Freeza

Dragon Ball Super featured a major Freeza beat down at the hands of the newly crowned God of Destruction, Universe 11's Toppo. The villain tried many underhanded techniques against the foe, but he took it one step too far and caused Toppo to change and completely overwhelm him.

But that wasn't before Android 17, the character quickly becoming the fans' MVP of the Tournament of Power, jumped in to save him.

After Gohan went off to help Freeza defeat Dyspo (which in turn got him eliminated as well), Android 17 split off to keep Toppo at bay. His original plan in the fight wasn't necessarily to win, but to use his infinite energies to his advantage to keep launching an unrelenting assault at Toppo in order to run out the final six minutes of the tournament.

This plan doesn't work out, however, as Toppo eventually sees through 17's attacks and begins his counterattacks. At one point, their clashing Ki blasts nearly overwhelms 17, but this is when Freeza jumps into the fold by shooting Toppo in the back with Death Beams. Cackling and calling him trash, Freeza takes potshots at him that eventually leads Toppo to lose the ki clash.

Combined with this loss and fueled by rage, Toppo completely transforms into a God of Destruction and beats down Freeza. Before he destroys him completely, however, Android 17 throws a rock at him and turns Toppo's attention away from the villain.

Although Android 17's intelligence and battle ability have helped him defeat other foes in the Tournament, it's going to take a much bigger effort in order to put a dent in a God of Destruction.

Dragon Ball Super's "Universal Survival" arc is part of the recent simulcast agreement that sites like Crunchyroll and Funimation have scored. DragonBall Super airs on Crunchyroll Saturday evenings at 7:15 p.m. CST. Adult Swim airs the English dub during its Toonami block Saturday evenings at 9:30 p.m, and is now available to stream on FunimationNOW and Amazon Video.

There is also currently a new Dragon Ball film in the works for 2018. The film will focus on the Saiyans, the "origins of Goku's power," and potentially the story of the very first Super Saiyan God. Not only does it aim to be the best film in the series, original creator Akira Toriyama will be contributing to the film's script and new character designs.
