Toei Animation confirmed Digimon Adventure Tri. would release its sixth film next summer. The news went public when the most recent Digimon film began its three-week run in Japan, and the fifth film ended with a teaser for the next. Digimon Adventure Tri. Part 6 – Our Future is said to arrive at the beginning of next summer, but there is little information out about the project right now.
After the announcement was made, Digimon fans soon go their first look at the poster for the next Digimon Adventure Tri. film. The picture, which can be seen below, shows the original generation of DigiDestined children reaching out to Meiko Mochizuki and her Digimon partnern Meicoomon as they fall away from the group.
The subtitle for the next Digimon film has got fans curious thanks to its odd construction. Each of the previous Digimon Adventure Tri. films had one-word subtitles. Reunion began the anthology before Determination, Confession, and Loss opened. Coexistence is the series’ fifth film to debut, so Our Future breaks the pre-existing construct.
If you aren’t familiar with the most recent Digimon project, then you should know its a continuation of sorts. The film anthology shows its original DigiDestined kids after they’ve grown up and started high school. Taichi and his friends have grown apart, but the gang is brought back together when the Digital World begins blending in with the real-world after so many years apart. You can check out the anthology’s synopsis below:
“It’s been six years since that summer adventure when Tai (now in high school) and the rest of the “DigiDestined” crossed over to the Digital World, and nearly three years since the frenzied final battles between warring factions. With the gate to the Digital World closed, time continues to pass, until the adventure “digi-volves” once again.”
