After handily being defeated by Jiren at the end of the last episode, Dragon Ball Super fans have been wondering if Vegeta was going to be able to bounce back much as the character has bounced back from big beat downs in the past.

Luckily, Episode 123 proved to be good to Vegeta as he reached a new form, a limit breaking Super Saiyan Blue.

Goku and Jiren began their rematch as teased, and while Goku was giving Jiren a hard time, Jiren proved to be tougher to defeat than they thought. But respecting the challenge, Jiren pushes to a new level of power himself and overwhelms Goku with his attack.

While Goku staggers to recovery from Jiren’s fully powered attack, he compliments Jiren’s power and refuses to back down. Inspired by this, Vegeta stands to fight once again saying he knows the odds are against them but they need to do what they can in order to win and obtain the Super Dragon Ball wish.

The two then charge their Ki to their full potential. Goku reaches his Super Saiyan Blue form with Kaioken boost, and Vegeta seems to go beyond Super Saiyan blue. Thinking back to Cabba, and his promise to resurrect Universe 6, he says he needs to surpass his limits in his own way. Vegeta’s aura then starts to sparkle, his hair glowed, his irises became more distinct (much like Goku’s Ultra Instinct), and with a last burst of energy reaches a different Super Saiyan blue form.

Piccolo notices that it’s a different energy from standard Super Saiyan Blue, and while this new form has yet to get a name, the Grand Priest confirms that Vegeta has gone beyond his Super Saiyan Blue power.

The only clue to the official name of this power up however, is Krillin noting that Vegeta has essentially performed a “limit break” on his energy. But even with Vegeta’s new strength and attacking together with Super Saiyan Blue Kaioken Goku, Jiren is still proving to be tough to defeat.

Fans are definitely excited to see what new power Vegeta’s new form will bring and how it will shake up the Tournament of Power’s final seven minutes.

Dragon Ball Super‘s “Universal Survival” arc is part of the recent simulcast agreement that sites like Crunchyroll and Funimation have scored. DragonBall Super airs on Crunchyroll Saturday evenings at 7:15 p.m. CST. Adult Swim airs the English dub during its Toonami block Saturday evenings at 9:30 p.m, and is now available to stream on FunimationNOW and Amazon Video.

There is also currently a new Dragon Ball film in the works for 2018. The film will focus on the Saiyans, the “origins of Goku‘s power,” and potentially the story of the very first Super Saiyan God. Not only does it aim to be the best film in the series, original creator Akira Toriyama will be contributing to the film’s script and new character designs.
