My Hero Academia has quickly become one of shonen’s most popular titles, and its manga is only solidifying its status. The story’s latest chapter just hit shelves this week, and fans were led to discover the true nature behind Eri’s mysterious Quirk.

Spoiler: It’s not at all what you were thinking.

The chapter continued the fight between Chisaki and Izuku with Eri hanging in the balance. The chapter came to a close when the villain grabbed the young girl, dragging Eri with him as he tried to flee Izuku and let the boy die. However, things did not go the way Chisaki planned.

Whilst in the villain’s arms, Eri reached out a shred of Lemillion’s cape that was torn when the sidekick fought against Chisaki previously. A small flashback ensues as she grabs the hero’s cloak, and when the manga comes back to present time, readers see that Eri has turned back time to when she was not in Chisaki’s grasp.

Fans were able to put together Eri’s Quirk thanks to the small flashback sequence Chisaki had over the girl. The manga showed the moment the villain learned of Eri’s abilities in full after her grandfather laid out why she was recently orphaned. Eri’s mother abandoned her after the young girl accidentally rewound her father out of existence. As fans discovered, Eri has the ability to physically rewind something she comes in contact with. The Eight Precepts of Death find a way to distill her blood as a sort of Quirk weapon to rewind the Quirks of heroes, but Eri just used her power for herself in a bid for freedom.

My Hero Academia‘s latest chapter came to an end with Izuku reaching out to Eri. The manga will surely explore the full scope of Eri’s Quirk as it continues, and fans have plenty of questions that they want answered. If the girl can rewind a physical object’s state of being, then Eri may be able to return the Quirks which her blood originally stole. That is, if Eri even wants to use her Quirk anymore after having been exploited for it all these years.
