My Hero Academia Releases New Preview For Final Season (And Things Are Looking Bad For Our Heroes)

This week, UA Academy enthusiasts are preparing for the end as My Hero Academia’s final season is set to premiere on October 4th. With creator Kohei Horikoshi ending the series last year in the pages of Weekly Shonen Jump, anime fans have been waiting to witness the grand finale for themselves. Luckily, Studio BONES is hyping up fans for Deku’s last hurrah by releasing a new preview for the season eight premiere. Unfortunately, things aren’t looking great for our heroes, young and old, thanks to the power of All For One and Shigaraki.

The first episode of the final season is titled “Yagi Toshinori: Rising Origin,” clearly hinting at a closer look at All Might’s past and present. Despite the fact that the former Symbol of Peace can no longer rely on the full strength of the Quirk known as One For All, his suit of armor is keeping him in the game. Unfortunately for Yagi, All For One’s power hasn’t wavered, especially with his wounds being healed thanks to Eri’s superpower, bolstering his strength. On the flip side, the preview also focuses on the likes of Aoyama and Fat Gum pushed to the brink by the villainous Kunieda, a lower-ranking member of the Paranormal Liberation Front. Class 1-A’s Final Battle

When last we left our heroes in season seven, All Might was attempting to run down the clock in his fight against All For One, hoping that the villain’s de-aging would take his life before he could reach Shigaraki. Speaking of the decaying antagonist, Shiggy is ramping up his fight against Deku as the heirs to All For One and One For All fight for the future of the Hero Society. Even though the heroes have already defeated the likes of Toga, Dabi, Spinner, and many other League of Villains members, the battle is far from over.

Luckily, My Hero Academia creator Kohei Horikoshi has confirmed that he plans on taking a more active role in the creation of the final season. Thanks to no longer needing to work on the manga, the manga artist has quite a bit of time on his hands and was more than willing to work with BONES on season eight. Thanks to the collaboration, Horikoshi confirmed that he is also working on new scenes for the anime adaptation that hadn’t been included in the manga. Specifically, Kohei stated,

“Now that My Hero Academia’s manga has ended, I have been able to work more closely with the production studio on the anime and the production process. I’ve had the chance to suggest adding extra scenes and emotional layers to the performances.” Horikoshi did something similar with the manga’s chapter, adding additional material that further expanded on the future of Hero Society and what transpired following the final battle. As of the writing of this article, the subject matter of said new material remains a mystery.
