In today's "It's about time" news, Robert Kirkman's 'The Walking Dead' has finally been acquired. According to the Hollywood Reporter, AMC outbid several companies to win a bidding war. The comic book chronicles a post-zombie apocalypse and a group of human survivors, led by Officer Rick Grimes. Unlike most zombie stories that tell the story while the zombie attack is happening, Kirkman's story picks up after the zombies have taken over. With 50+ issues published, a television series seemed to be the only way to go with The Walking Dead. A film wouldn't do the books justice. Frank Darabont (Green Mile, Shawshank Redemption) will write, direct and produce the project. That means Kirkman's smart writing on paper should easily get translated to a fantastic story on the tube. Stay tuned for more details. The Walking Dead is a HUGE favorite of ours, so suffice it to say, we're very excited about this news!
