Yesterday, in the midst of its series of solicitation announcements for January, DC announced via its blog, The Source, that they will resume publication on a Batman Beyond ongoing series by Adam Beecham and Norm Breyfogle. The wrinkle? This one will share page count with Justice League Beyond by Dustin Nguyen and Derek Fridolfs. Oh, and it'll be a 48-page book, available weekly in four parts per month online and then in one larger digest at the end of the month at your local comic shops. Maybe DC is taking this whole "superheroes of tomorrow" thing a little seriously? DC didn't list any price point for the weekly chapters or the monthly comic, which will be titled Batman Beyond Unlimited. This isn't the first time that a major publisher has gone digital-first with a product--DC has done it themselves, in fact, with multimedia tie-in titles like Batman: Arkham City and Beyond the Fringe. This is, however, the first time that a digital-first product has been released as an ongoing, monthly comic book title.
