George Lucas founded Lucasfilm in 1971. He was in charge of the company for forty-one years, before announcing that he was selling Lucasfilm to Disney in late October 2012. In a Future of Star Wars video we reported on yesterday, Lucas makes some interesting comments, which show that he appears to have some mixed emotions about leaving. When asked how he was feeling about passing the torch, George Lucas said, "Well, like anything in this in life, you only go through these kinds of stages…there are just a small number of these kinds of stages in life. Retirement is you know filled with a lot of sadness and at the same time filled with a lot of excitement and exhilaration in starting a new life." George Lucas added, "It's like when you leave home to go to college, you know like when you get married. There are things that you know are like scary and fun, and you know I'm looking forward to trying new things."
