Director Michael Bay once said that Transformers: Dark Of The Moon would be his last Transformers movie. However, he changed his mind and decided to come back for Transformers 4. In an interview with Huffington Post, Michael Bay explained that he decided to do Transformers 4 because he didn't want anyone to come in and "screw it up" and so that he could keep the history of the first three in place while establishing a new footing for the franchise. Michael Bay also added, "When you have a franchise, it's very hard to give it up." In another interview with Hero Complex, Michael Bay stated that Transformers 4 would be his last Transformers 4 movie, and he was basically just setting up the franchise for the next guy. However, one has to wonder if Michael Bay might not be in process of changing his mind again. In announcing that Jack Reynor would be joining the cast of Transformers 4, director Michael Bay wrote, "This Transformers will feel very different then the last three. We are embarking on a new trilogy." Now, it could be that Michael Bay is still planning to just get things kicked off for the next guy, but it's interesting that he wrote, "We are embarking on a new trilogy." While we don't want to read too much into the use of the word "we," could it be that Michael Bay is having so much fun putting together the pieces of Transformers 4 that he is now starting to change his mind about sticking around for the trilogy. Michael Bay seems to be recruiting a cast that he really enjoys working with, which could make the franchise much more enjoyable for him given the likely challenges of some past cast members. If Transformers 4 is a huge success, will Michael Bay really still walk away?
