Captain America: The Winter Soldier

will feature Robert Redford as the head of the super-spy organization S.H.I.E.L.D., the legendary actor confirmed at a press roundtable for The Company You Keep. Asked by CBR whether it was true he was playing a senior S.H.I.E.L.D. official, Redford confirmed, adding, "Well, the head of S.H.I.E.L.D. The head of S.H.I.E.L.D." What his connection will be with Nick Fury and/or the tribunal of shadowy figures Fury seemed to answer to in Marvel's The Avengers is not yet clear. "The Captain America thing is just a very simple thing," he explained of his desire to join the Marvel Universe. "I wanted to do something different. I wanted to do something just to be different. Something bold, different. And that felt like a good thing to do. That was it, nothing more to it than that. Well, it's bold in terms of expectations, I guess. " Redford joins Chris Evans, Emily VanCamp, Frank Grillo, Anthony Mackie and more in the film, which will be directed by TV veterans Joe and Anthony Russo.
