Iron Man 3 Opens To $175.3 Million In US, $680.1 Million Worldwide

Studio estimates now project that Iron Man 3 will make $175.3 million at the U.S. and Canadian box office during its opening weekend. The $175.3 million is enough to give Marvel Studios the bragging rights of owning the two biggest opening weekends in history in the U.S. The Avengers has the top opening weekend of all time in the U.S. with $207.4 million. It's possible that the Iron Man 3 numbers will continue to rise when official numbers are released on Monday, which was the case with The Avengers. Iron Man 3 also continued to perform strongly at the international box office, where it debuted in many countries last weekend. Iron Man 3 now has a cumulative total of $680.1 million at the box office worldwide. Iron Man 3 is virtually a lock to join the $1 billion plus club at the worldwide box office, a feat that has only been accomplished by fifteen films so far.
