Back when Val Kilmer's Batman referenced Metropolis on the big screen, it seemed as though there might be hope for DC heroes to tie in together, creating what would have been the first meaningful attempt at a cinematic universe. Unfortunately for all involved, that movie was terrible and nobody was particularly eager to revisit anything from it. Well, now we've got another chance, if a new rumor is to be believed. Over at Comic Book Therapy, they claim that both Wayne Enterprises and Batman himself will get a wink and a node in the upcoming Superman reboot Man of Steel. "Wayne Enterprises will be mentioned in some sort of fashion in the film. I have not been told how, or in what way, but keep your ears at the ready for this one, "the site says. "But that's not all! As if that wasn't enough World's Finest for you, I have also been told that there will be more of a direct reference to the Batman character. I'm sure that most are wondering if it will be Christan Bale's Batman they are referring to, and the answer is no. This will be part of, if Man of Steel is a success, the new Batman for the DC Universe that WB is creating for their superhero films. Once again, no word to me on how they will refer to him, but it should be awesome none the less." That's a lot of detail for an anonymous source, so take it for what it's worth--but certainly it sounds like it tracks with what we know of the film.
