Tom Morello To Appear on Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band's Next Album

Musician, activist and Dark Horse Comics writer Tom Morello, formerly of Rage Against the Machine, has recorded tracks expected to appear on Bruce Springsteen's follow-up to his #1 hit album Wrecking Ball, Rolling Stone reports. The magazine reports that Springsteen laid down some tracks with the E Street Band during the recent Australian leg of their world tour, and that Morello sat in for guitarist Steve Van Zandt. "We've never had a recording session during a tour in our lives. We did a couple of things that I wanted to put down. So that was very exciting. And being with Tommy was exciting. The band – Steven, Nils, all those guys – continues to be a source of inspiration for me," Springsteen said. Morello, who also did music for the first two Iron Man films, just concluded his year-long graphic novel Orchid, the first time he's written a comic book by himself, with artist Scott Hepburn. "The key for Orchid for me was to make a thrilling, epic, ass-kicking narrative that had a different worldview than you normally find in a superhero story," Morello told ComicBook.com in an interview. "Orchid shares some commonalities with Luke Skywalker and Frodo and with–name the hero of your choice–but the world she's in, there's a brighter light shined on the inequalities that are at its core, that set up the conflict in the book." Morello worked on a couple of tracks for Springsteen's Wrecking Ball, as well, which came out in 2012. The barnstorming world tour in support of that record will conclude later this week.
