Spider-Man In The Avengers Movie

It seems everyone wants to be an Avenger. In the past, Hugh Jackman has expressed his interest in having Wolverine join the Avengers. However, 20th Century Fox owns the movie rights to the X-Men, while Marvel Studios owns the movie rights to the Avengers. Before The Avengers was released in theaters, there were numerous rumors that Spider-Man would have a cameo. However, Spider-Man's movie rights are owned by Sony and not Marvel Studios, so Spider-Man has the same difficulty as Wolverine when it comes to joining The Avengers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. During the Sony & Screen Gems panel at 2013 San Diego Comic-Con International, Andrew Garfield weighed in with his own thoughts on the possibility of a crossover between studios. Andrew Garfield said that he would like to see Spider-Man in The Avengers, which was met with a huge roar of approval from the crowd. With the actors all clamoring to have Marvel characters crossover between studios, one has to wonder how long before the studios work things out to make it happen. It's possible that Marvel Studios relationship with Sony might be tighter than it is with 20th Century Fox where a Spider-Man cameo in The Avengers could more easily come together. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is scheduled to be released in movie theaters in the United States on May 2, 2014.
