As reported last night, Bradley Cooper is in talks to provide the voice of Rocket Raccoon in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, The Wrap has confirmed. Previously, it was said that an offer had been extended to Cooper and that the ball was firmly in the actor's court. The Wrap doesn't dispute that, but does characterize the actor as in "early talks." Guardians of the Galaxy would be Cooper's first time voicing an animated character. This is news because typically The Wrap is considered a fairly rock-solid site; if they report something, it's generally accepted as news. Last night, the news broke via Latino Review, a site that actively courts rumors and sometimes ends up reporting things that don't happen. For instance, they may have broken Bradley Cooper's involvement last night, but before that, the site had reported that the studio wanted Jim Carrey or Adam Sandler for the part. In spite of some questionable Marvel rumors to have come out of the site recently, though, it does appear as though they've got a handle on Guardians of the Galaxy for the most part; over a year ago, Latino Review were the first to report that the film was set to be announced at San Diego Comic Con International, and earlier this year they named Dave Bautista as Drax shortly before that casting announcement happened. Guardians of the Galaxy debuted its first, rough footage at Comic Con this year and will be in theaters in August 2014. The film stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Bautista, Benicio del Toro, Glenn Close and Vin Diesel.
