Who would have thought going into this week that James Spader's IMDb page would be seeing more traffic than Miley Cyrus's? That's just what's happened, though, according to the popular movie website. Managing Editor Keith Simanton just tweeted that yesterday's top names on the website--that is, the celebrities whose IMDb profiles have been viewed the most--were James Spader, followed by Miley Cyrus at #2 and Kick-Ass 2 star Chloe Grace Moretz in the third position. The embarrassing spectacle of Cyrus's performance at the VMAs on Sunday, and the subsequent media furor that pushed real news to the back page, became the week's biggest entertainment story, pushing Ben Affleck being tapped as Batman off the front page as well. Both Affleck and Cyrus have consistently been at or near the top of the list for a week now.

Spader, of course, was announced yesterday as the villain in Avengers: Age of Ultron. As the voice of Ultron, he'll bring some of the creepy that he's currently delivering in The Blacklist, a new fall series in which he plays a public enemy helping the government in a Hannibal Lecter-esque capacity. Some of Spader's older outings likely got more traffic than usual, too; the actor starred in Less Than Zero and Tuff Turf with Avengers and Iron Man star Robert Downey, Jr.  Movieweb, in fact, pointed out that in the background of a shot from Tuff Turf, astute observers can see a bit of graffiti that reads "The New Avengers." You can see screen grabs at left. So, clearly this has been planned for a while.
