Director and Comic Book Men's Kevin Smith has made no secret of the fact that his latest movie Tusk was inspired by an online ad placed by a Brighton homeowner, who offered free rent to anyone who dressed up as a walrus for two hours a day. The ad claimed that the man had once been lost at sea with a walrus that he nicknamed Gregory as his only companion. Ever since hearing the story, we've often wondered if the ad was for real or was a hoax. We've also wondered whatever became of the writer who basically inspired a movie with his ad. In a post on Instagram, Kevin Smith has answered both questions. Along with the photo embedded below, Kevin Smith wrote, "This is Chris Parkinson - the Brighton man who created the room-for-rent ad hoax that inspired TUSK. We made him a producer. #WalrusYes." We're not sure if anyone keeps records on this type of stuff, but we're betting that this might be the first time ever that someone placing a hoax ad has resulted in them becoming a producer on a movie. In other Tusk news, Smith also revealed that he is at around the halfway point in being finished with filming Tusk.
