Speaking to the German website Movie Pilot, Producer Dave Filoni has unveiled a brand new droid character from the upcoming animated series Star Wars Rebels. The droid's name is Chopper and he has a different attitude than most droids we've seen in the Star Wars universe:

"We like to say if Artoo is a dog, Chopper is a cat. Meaning that Chopper does things when he wants to and how he wants to. He is a bit stubborn and cranky. I think this is a nice departure from the loveable Artoo-Deetoo.  I think people will really enjoy Chopper - at least cat people will."

Filoni also talked about why they decided to end The Clone Wars and go forward with a new animated Star Wars series:

"I think the time for change was right. I would have liked to finish off more of what we had planned for The Clone Wars, but seeing the future of Star Wars, and the things that were to come, I thought it was better to finish The Clone Wars before moving forward into this new era of storytelling. The Clone Wars was rooted in George Lucas, and his characters. While we work hard to keep the feeling and energy of George's original vision alive, it's a time of new characters and new ideas. Who knows, we may yet see some familiar faces down the road as we tell these new stories."
Star Wars Rebels

is the upcoming Disney XD animated series that will take place between Star Wars Episodes III and IV and will tell the story of how the Rebel Alliance was original formed. Star Wars Rebels is scheduled to debut in Fall 2014.
