Peter Mayhew will be reprising his role as Chewbacca in Star Wars Episode VII, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Mayhew played Chewbacca in the original Star Wars Trilogy, as well as in Revenge of the Sith. The actor has cancelled an upcoming appearance at the Comicpalooza convention in Texas due to filming. The dates of the convention are May 23—26, so fans have assumed that he would be filming for Star Wars. THR sources have confirmed this theory. This comes after the revelation from Disney chairman Alan Horn that filming for the new Star Wars movie has already begun, though casting isn't complete. The J.J. Abrams helmed Star Wars film will be set 30 years after Return of the Jedi. The key members of the original trilogy's cast, including Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and Carrie Fischer, are expected to reprise their roles. Now it seems we know that Han Solo won't be without his co-pilot. Star Wars Episode VII is scheduled for theatrical release on December 18, 2015.
