Following the Amazing Spider-Man 2, the Spider-Man film universe is set to expand with spinoff movies based on Venom and the Sinster Six. We know that Drew Goddard will be directing Sinister Six, but the lineup of the villainous ensemble has yet to be announced. According to producers Matt Tolmach and Avi Arad, fans shouldn't necessarily expect the version of the Sinister Six they may be most familiar with. "Nothing is sacred," Tolmach told IGN. "I mean it's going to be the best Six that you can imagine, but it's going to make sense in the world that we're building." The classic Sinster Six lineup consisted of Doctor Octopus, Electro, Vulture, Sandman, Mysterio, and Kraven the Hunter, but Avi Arad implied that "classic" doesn't mean much to those making the film. "When you translate comic to film the word 'classic' means the first fifty issues," said Arad. "Because after that we all made changes; changes that had to do with science-fiction turning into science. I think just the need to move this world forward… So, of course we'll make adaptations about these guys and what was their motivations because many of them have multiple motivations. It depends, is it ultimate Spider-Man? Is it Spider-Man? Is it some three-piece issue that takes them to space? We have a bigger responsibility to represent the character of the villain as it was conceived, because that way it will survive the test of time. All the rest... that's a movie." Jamie Foxx has hinted very heavily that he will be returning as Electro in future films. Amazing Spider-Man 2 planted Easter egg hints at Doctor Octopus and Vulture by placing a set of octopus arms and some wings at Oscorp. Kraven the Hunter is appearing in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 video game, but acts as an ally to Peter Parker. Mysterio and Sandman have yet to be introduced, but we still don't know who the villain will be in The Amazing Spider-Man 3, which is said to crossover heavily with Venom and Sinister Six. Meanwhile, we do know that Venom will be showing up, at least in his own film. Carnage has been hinted at in viral marketing and there's always the possibility of Green Goblin, Rhino, or the Lizard making a return appearance. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 comes to theaters on May 2 and will lay the groundwork for Sinister Six.
