Before Planet of the Apes was rebooted, kickstarting a new franchise that's turning into a reliable hit for Fox, Planet of the Apes was rebooted by Tim Burton.

That movie, which proved to be a massive box office hit and remains the top-grossing film in the franchise, was generally not well-received by fans of the franchise and despite all the money it made, it's generally considered an expensive mess and something that nobody but Burton, whose singular voice shaped the film, could follow up.

That didn't happen, of course, and it was ten years before the next movie...but only three before a return to the franchise, due in theaters next week, so Cinema Sins is looking at Burton's version below...

With Dawn of the Planet of the Apes fast approaching (but not fast enough!), we figured it was time to point the sin cannon at one of the most notorious of all the PotA movies (and that's saying something!)... Tim Burton's 2001 Planet of the Apes reboot.

Special thanks to our good friend, Mike, who watched this movie with us and helped with the sins.

Thursday: Probably something else Apes related.
